Recipe:Bagadels

June 3, 2008 · Leave a Comment

If you asked my frank opinion, I will tell you that Bagadels are hard work. You are better off buying those frozen ones from the supermart or those piping hot ones from your fav malay store. If you are still not convinced, try making them yourself.

Ingredients:

2 medium size potatoes
2 shallots
1 garlic
1 egg (beaten)
Salt and pepper to taste
Serve: 2

Cooking:
Peel and cut potatoes into wedges. Heat up your pan with oil (not too hot). Fry the potatoes, preferably 3 – 4 pieces at a time. Scoop them out when they turn slightly golden brown. Mash them while they are hot (caution: hot!)

Mix the finely chopped shallots and garlic into the mashed potatoes. Roll the mixture into balls (slightly flatten and not too big). Make sure they are firm (if you really wana make sure they hold tog, add some bread crumbs). Egg wash them (aka coat the potato ball evenly with a thin layer of beaten egg). Fry them till they turn a nice brown like this:

I know i know it looked abit oily (i could have done better with my photography) but hey all yummy food are not very healthy (I am just showing you the reality). Anyway, for a less PITA version, you can boil the potatoes and mash them instead of frying.

P.S. Good luck!

Recipe: Chicken and white radish soup

May 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

First tried this dish at Yaz place. Super yum. So I went home and tried and its still super yum. Here’s the recipe.

Ingredients:
6 chicken wings
1 white radish
1 can of button mushrooms
1 medium size onion
2 tablespoon of yellow beans
Serves: 4-5

Cooking:
Soak yellow beans in advance for about 1 hour (till the skin is removed or easily removed). Soak longer if needed.

Boil water in pot (about 2/5 filled if you are using a medium size pot). Pour in the yellow beans and continue to boil. Meanwhile, peel radish and cut them into big chunks of circular shapes. Pour in the raddish. Peel and slice onion into half. Peel them layer by layer and throw into the soup. Soup should be boiling at all times. After 15 minutes, pour in the chicken. Continue to boil for 20 minutes. Pour in the mushrooms. Taste soup. Add salt if neccessary (i don’t). The soup is ready to serve. Enjoy
